Your Hair is at it’s Breaking Point

Is Your Hair Breaking—or Just Not Growing?

Ever feel like your hair just won’t grow? Your roots are growing, but your ends keep getting thinner—or you’re finding little broken pieces everywhere.

Chances are, your hair is growing. It may just be breaking along the way.

And some of the biggest culprits? Your everyday habits at home. 👀

Here are a few things your hair would very much like you to stop doing.

Hair breakage prevention tips from Lumen Salon in Georgetown DC featuring “Your hair didn’t break itself, babe.”

If you’re noticing more breakage lately, your hair might be trying to tell you something.

And sometimes, it’s not your color appointment causing the problem. It’s the little things happening

at home every single day.

One of the biggest offenders? How you treat your hair when it’s wet.

How to Brush Wet Hair Without Causing Breakage

The good news? You don’t have to stop brushing your hair. You just need to be a little nicer to her.

Start at your ends and gently work your way up instead of dragging a brush from roots to ends.

Use a detangling or leave-in product to give the hair some slip and make knots easier to work through.

And most importantly: don’t force it. If you hit a knot, slow down and gently work through it.

Going to bed with soaking-wet hair and hoping your pillow handles the rest? 😬

Sleeping with wet hair means hours of friction while your hair is at its most fragile, which can contribute

to tangles and breakage.

Plus, all that moisture ends up in your pillowcase not exactly where we want it.

The easy fix? Dry your hair before bed and give your hair a fighting chance.

Your pillow has enough responsibilities. 😂

Using hot tools without heat protectant? Your hair would like a word. 👀

Blow dryers, curling irons, and flat irons can cause damage over time—especially on color-treated hair.

If you’re using heat, heat protectant is non-negotiable. You’d never reach into a hot oven to grab a cookie sheet bare handed, yet you dry your hair at the same 350 degrees without protecting it, girl!

Apply it before the heat. Every time!

Okay ladies, if you read nothing else… 👀

Here are the 3 rules your hair needs you to remember: be gentle when it’s wet, don’t go to bed with it wet, and always use heat protectant.

That’s it. Three little rules. Your hair will be happier, your ends will be fuller, and your stylist will be very proud of you. 😂🤍

Healthy, longer-looking hair doesn’t always need another product or another step. Sometimes, it’s simply about treating your hair a little better every day.

Be gentle when it’s wet. Dry it before bed. Protect it from the heat.

Because sometimes the best thing you can do for your hair is break up with the habits that are breaking it.
